Kirkby CC more than ready for cricket restart

Following our article on Furness, Vickerstown and Barrow Cricket Clubs, Sport Furness spoke to Paul New of Kirkby CC to get the low down on how COVID-19 is affecting the Kirkby club.

Kirkby CC are in the same situation as the rest of the counties cricket clubs, as they wait patiently to see if it’s possible to play any cricket this year. It’s doubly disappointing for the village club as visitors to the ground this summer would have been greeted by the newly completed changing rooms. “Over £300,000 has been raised by the community centre committee, who have worked tirelessly to achieve the funding,”  Paul told Sport Furness. “The club would like to thank everyone who has helped out.”

Not only have they built the new changing rooms, but the community centre itself is undergoing an overhaul, so if the cricket does get started this year, it will be improved experience for visitors to this most picturesque of grounds.

The project work started early 2019 and should be finished later this year with the Community Centre due for completion at the end of the summer, the new changing rooms (pictured above) already being completed in August of last year.
