Hawcoat Juniors move leagues to test youngsters.

As the Junior football season prepares to start again, Sport Furness caught up with hawcoat Park coaches Nick Ellis and Paul McGlown on what they have decided to do to ensure their team gets tested at the highest level possible.

On asked why they had made the decision to break away from the Barrow and District Junior league, Nick Ellis said;

“Hawcoat Park Dynamos are taking on a new challenge this season by entering the Junior Premiere League , a league that has been designed to bridge the gap between grassroots and academy football.

After many seasons in the barrow and district, and being successful in many summer competitions notably at St. George’s park, we felt it was the right time for a new challenge for the lads. We will be playing teams across the North West in the league, and further afield in cup competitions. A lot of commitment has been needed by the coaches , players and family but everyone is on board. We were sad to leave the Barrow and district, but felt it was the right time in the lads development and they needed a new challenge.

With the LFA Cup Final still to come in September midweek which is played under the lights at LFA headquarters at Leyland, and our first league game on the 12th September the boys can’t wait to get going. It’s not all been good news though a planned trip to Barcelona in October to complete in the Barcelona trophy had to be postponed due to the pandemic, but we are hoping still to go maybe the back end of next year”.

“We have just had a friendly against Herald Juniors from Liverpool who also play in the JPL. We played them last season and got a bit of a footballing lesson, so we were determined to put that right this time. After going behind early in the game the lads showed some real character and battled back to win the game 4-2 which will give us a massive confidence boost going into the season. We know there will be some tough games, but we feel the lads will benefit from being stretched every week, it’s certainly going to be an exciting season!!”

Good luck to all junior teams starting there seasons soon and stay Safe thanks The Hawcoat Park Dynamos
