Exeter clash frozen out.
Barrow’s game against Exeter City, due to take place tomorrow, has been called off due to a frozen pitch.
With tempratures dropping and The Grecians due to make the long trip north, the decision was made to cancel the clash in plenty of time.
‘Plummeting temperatures in the area have left the playing surface frozen and a local referee was called in to carry out an inspection at 1pm today,’ read a club statement.
‘It was subsequently decided that the best course of action would be to postpone the fixture, with temperatures expected to remain close to freezing throughout Friday and in to Saturday.’
‘Given the national guidelines around coronavirus, it was not felt wise for Exeter to travel north with such a low probability of the game being able to go ahead.’
The advance postponement also means both sides will avoid a situation similar to the one that saw Carlisle’s midweek game at Harrogate abandoned after only 10 minutes.
The tie will be rearranged for a later date.
