Barrow AFC’s crucial League Two game against Exeter City had fallen victim to the freezing conditions, despite the best efforts of ground staff and volunteers.
Temperatures in the Furness area, and across the country, plummeted to below freezing in the last couple of days, putting the Holker Street pitch in danger of being too hard to be passed fit ahead of the match.
All tucked in for the night.

Massive thanks to our ground staff and volunteers who have worked hard all day to help us protect the pitch ahead of tomorrow's game against Exeter City.#BarrowAFC pic.twitter.com/jldqERmbc6
Work was taken out by staff and fans of the Bluebirds alike throughout Monday and Tuesday, using coverings to protect the pitch from the frost overnight, ahead of a pitch inspection at midday today.
A further pitch inspection was made at 4pm, with the match officials happy at the condition of the surface, but further checks just over an hour later saw referee Ross Joyce change his mind, despite initially bringing kick-off forward to 6:30pm.
This further postponement has added to an already packed fixture schedule for the Bluebirds in their battle to avoid relegation.
