Stockport snap-up wantaway Quigley
Stockport County have signed Barrow’s talismanic striker, Scott Quigley, for an undisclosed fee.
The Shrewsbury-born striker had earlier announced his intention to leave the club via his Twitter page, citing family reasons.
“As soon as Scott expressed his desire to move away from Barrow, we concluded a deal to suit all parties,” Bluebirds chairman, Paul Hornby, told the club’s website.
“We can only thank Scott for his contribution to Barrow during an incredible period which saw us make our return to the Football League.”
Quigley, who finished last season as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals, was absent from the Bluebirds first pre-season outing at Holker Old Boys, fuelling speculation he was set to move on.
It had been strongly rumoured the striker would be joining ambitious Wrexham, but it was fellow National League side Stockport County who moved to secure the man instrumental in Barrow’s rise to the Football League.
