On a perfect day for cricket and with Furness park looking a picture, Furness came out comfortable winners against Lindal.

Furness won the toss and took first use of a typically flat looking wicket. Lindal struck early as Durham Academy player Max Winskill comprehensively bowled Lewis Gribbin in the first over. Cumbria player Nathan Waterston and professional Maduwantha started cautiously without ever looking in real trouble and began to build a steady partnership.

Bradley Stephens Waterston leaving them 36-2, but professional Maduwantha was joined by Mark Daley and the pair starved the visitors of any further success an put on a partnership 97 before Daly departed for 52. Liam Curwen with 36 from 33 balls and Ryan Griffiths with 20 from 16 helped Furness post a competitive 248-4 with Maduwantha 96 not out from 159 balls with 12 fours.

In reply Wyll Stanway got Furness off to the perfect start as he ripped through the Lindal top order to leave them 8-3. Sub professional Lasith Lakshan 37, and Dean Williams 34, attempted to rebuild the innings, but Lindal were finally all out for 128 in the 40th over with Paul Wilcox 21 the only other major contributor. Wickets shared around amongst the Furness bowlers, Stanway 3, Maduwantha 2, Daly, Thompson and Woods one apeice and 3 catches and a run out for Waterston.
I believe the umpires had a good game as well… Report submitted by Craig Barrass.
