The transfer window may have closed, but Barrow boss David Dunn has continued to strengthen his squad with the signing of French youngster Dimitri Sea.

Sea, 19, has been trialling with the Bluebirds in recent weeks and has impressed Dunn enough to be rewarded with a contract.

“He’s looked really sharp in training for the last couple of weeks, so we’re pleased to get the deal done,” the Barrow boss told the club’s official website.

“We have obviously spoken to the people at Villa about him and they have told us just how big a prospect he was there at one stage so we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

The promising Frenchman is a product of the youth system at Athletic Club Boulogne-Billancourt, following in the footsteps of current and past Newcastle stars Allan Saint-Maximin and Hatem Ben Arfa, as well as Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram – son of French World Cup winner Marcus.

Sea moved to England following a successful trial at Aston Villa in 2017, and was released in the summer following three years at the Villa Park, having featured in their U23s squad in recent seasons and goes straight into the squad for tonight’s game at Mansfield.

The signing adds much needed depth in the Bluebirds frontline following injuries to Scott Quigley and Courtney Baker-Richardson and loan departure of Jack Hindle to South Shields.
