Kyle Brown 1-3 David McNamara
The Free Sports Commentators may of questioned Kyle Brown’s choice of footwear for his Series of Pool first round tie with Runcorn’s David McNamara, but they couldn’t question his effort and performance. Sadly it wasn’t to be as the England men’s A Team star romped home against Furness’ Kyle Brown in Solihull last night.
Brown opted to wear no shoes on his feet, & the sock wearing Barrovian slipped nicely into a one set lead, coming back from three frames to one down against the 2019 IPA Tour English Open Champion to take the first set five – three.
Set two was a more tense affair, however. At two frames all with just over one minute on the clock McNamara gave Brown a golden chance, but Brown’s attempt of a quick clearance saw him cut the white into the middle pocket whilst trying to get position for his next ball. McNamara would make no mistake, potting his final 3 balls and the black in the final seconds of the frame to level things up.
Set three saw Brown start very comfortably despite the way he lost the previous set going into a two frame lead after just 10 minutes, McNamara fought back superbly though winning the next five frames consecutively in comfortable fashion (seven balling Brown in frames four and five) to take the set five – two
The fourth Set was one that Brown had to win but despite winning the second frame McNamara just never looked like losing. His dominance showed with a commanding five – one win to take the match three sets to one.
McNamara will now face the winner of today’s first round tie between Marc Farnsworth and Ben Rowland
