Josh Kay, Sam Hird and Calvin Andrew are among the thirteen players who will be released by Barrow AFC once their current contracts expire, the club has announced.
34-year-old Andrew, a late-season signing, leaves the club after playing an important role in helping the club secure their Football League status, turning in good performances in key games at home to Exeter City and away at Forest Green, whilst midfielder Chris Taylor will also not have his deal renewed.
Kay, meanwhile, announced his departure on social media last week and the attacking wing-back, 24, has been joined in leaving the Bluebirds by fellow promotion hero Sam Hird, although the experienced defender is still in discussions with the club about remaining in a coaching role, along with goalkeeper Josh Lillis.
The Bluebirds longest serving player, Joel Dixon, has been offered a new deal to stay at Holker Street, as have defenders Brad Barry, Kgosi Ntlhe and midfield stalwart Jason Taylor. Hard-working defender, Connor Brown, and young striker Dimitri Sea have had their contracts automatically extended by a year after the club activated the relevant clauses in their contracts.
The club have also confirmed that former captain Lewis Hardcastle has now formally retired from football, with the club pledging to continue their support for the 22-year-old, who was forced to announce his retirement in March, due to a heart condition.
